Email Subject: We need your help! Will you support our secondary school campaign?
Hello __________,
We are a group of community members and parents campaigning for a more modern, inclusive and diverse secondary school option in our area. Here in the Killester Raheny Clontarf School Planning Area (KRCSPA), we urgently require a non-denominational, co-ed secondary school to meet the needs of our young people. General election voters in this area want to support candidates who stand with us in the importance of educational choice. Will you help us?
Of the seven second-level schools in the badly oversubscribed KRC area, all are taxpayer-funded but church-run, while five out of seven are single-sex. This is just not good enough! Our children deserve better.
Demand for educational choice is growing every day here in KRCSPA. A 2021 survey found that of 1,231 local respondents, 74% wanted a co-educational secondary school for the area, while 59% wanted a non-religious option. We’re particularly failing boys at the moment; Department of Education data highlight a severe lack of boys’ places in KRCSPA, with nearly two out of every three boys leaving here every year (between 2016 and 2022) for secondary school.
We are writing today to ask: will you pledge to raise the issue of the lack of co-ed non-religious secondary school options in KRCSPA in the Dáil if your party is elected? We also want your commitment to ask party colleagues to support us and raise parliamentary questions about this urgent issue to help us get some answers.
Our campaign website names all the 2024 General Election candidates in our area. If you pledge your support, we’ll change your status to “supporter” and let the thousands of voters in our network know you’re on our side. They are standing by to vote for candidates who believe in inclusive educational choice and a bright future for our children.
Thank you for your time.
Sincerely,
